FAQs

A good question, which is easy for us to answer:

Bamboo is organic, recyclable, biodegradable, grown and harvested without the use of pesticides.

Bamboo is an anti-microbial and anti-bacterial material and is resistant to odours, heat, water and stains.

Bamboo looks stylish and can withstand toddler tantrums.

Bamboo does not contain harmful substances often found in plastic products such as BPA, PVC and Phthalates.

Our products are available online in various retail stores. Check out our stockists and distributor pages to find out more.  Follow us on Instagram @ecorascals and sign up to our newsletter.

Our products are not suitable for any excessive heat and should be used as a serving bowl/plate for your baby or child. Do not microwave or put in the oven.

Our bamboo tableware will last longer if you wash it in warm soapy water. We do not advise putting our products in dishwashers as when natural products such as wood and bamboo  are exposed to the humidiy, high temperature and prolonged water that our wonderful dishwashers provide, they can crack and splinter.

Our super suction bowls and plates work on an airtight mechanism and will stick to all clean, non-porous surfaces such as plastic, glass, tile, metal and marble.

Whilst the product will suction to wooden surfaces and highchairs, because this too is a natural product, you may find it more difficult to achieve longer lasting suction as pockets of air will naturally form.

Our bowls and plates are not compatible with the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair tray which is textured.

Yes.

We use an independent safety certification programme to ensure that our products exceed the requirements set by the FDA and LFGB to ensure they meet all the requirements to be deemed ‘food safe’.

No.

We don’t compromise on the health of our children, nor yours. Melamine is a plastic like resin which is often found in tableware for children. Recent studies have shown that prolonged exposure to Melamine, especially once heated or once it comes into contact with hot food and drink, can cause chemicals to leech into the food which may be a cause of a number of illnesses.

We chose to only use bamboo which is 100% natural.

Mould is a product of the environment that bamboo is kept in. Mould tends to appear if the plate has been kept in a damp or moist environment for too long. On the rare occasion, we are sent photos of mould, it is always normally where the silicone ring is attached to the base of the bowl or plate. Our recommendation is to always remove the silicone ring for washing and drying and just to reattach the silicone at mealtimes.

Mould can be removed by using natural products such as vinegar and water or bicarbonate soda and water.

If you notice mould on any of your wooden or bamboo products, we recommend removing this item from other wooden or bamboo products immediately for treatment as it can spread fast.

Silicone is one of the most natural products after bamboo and glass for children’s tableware and we do not use any chemicals on our silicone products. If you notice a smell on the silicone it is likely due to food or washing detergent which is clinging to the silicone.

Silicone can withstand very high temperatures without damaging so our favourite trick is to pop it in the oven whilst you’re cooking something to eliminate the smell. Ensure the temperature is below 200F/93C.

Lemon juice and baking soda can also be use to remove smells.

One of the most wonderful things about silicone is that it doesn’t degrade. If you feel like your bowl or plate isn’t gripping as tightly to the surfaces like it did before, we recommend cleaning the silicone ring with the juice from a fresh lemon. Over time, food oils and detergents can grip to the silicone and it may seem as if it’s losing its power. Leave the lemon juice on the silicone for 30 minutes before washing.
